Embark on a Technological Love Odyssey: Milena Galasso Unveils ‘Distant,’ Redefining the Pop Experience
UK-based emerging pop act Milena Galasso is releasing the second single of her upcoming EP ‘i hope you’re having fun’ as a shoutout to all of us who have ever been in a long-distance ‘situationship’.
A fan-favorite, as often described by the artist’s followers, ‘distant’ is a playful, fresh pop song that reflects on how technology can affect the nature of relationships and dating culture amongst young people of our generation. Through a sequence of catchy pop hooks rich in social media references with lines such as ‘when all I see is stories on your Instagram’ and ‘unfollowed you on TikTok’, Milena draws upon some difficult times she experienced during her own long-distance relationship. “In a world where most social interactions are moving online, it seems like an ‘unfollow’ equals the idea that a relationship ‘is over’, as if it was that simple,” jokes the artist.
With elements of R&B and electro-pop, ‘distant’ plays a fundamental role in introducing Milena Galasso’s upcoming album release to the world as its lyrics inspired the title of the EP ‘i hope you’re having fun’. The track also marks the second collaboration between Milena and Phil Boothroyd, both of whom have worked together on the composition of its tracks, including ‘cold’, released earlier in 2024.
A perfect way to bid farewell to the Valentine month, ‘distant’ comes out on the 23rd of February and teases all that is yet to come from the artist in the coming year. Until then, ‘hope you’re having fun’.
